I will first say that if this offends anyone.....well, I'm not sorry.


Okay..
I have recently - in the past few months - seen how horribly Houston is portrayed to the public.
I plan to try to change the wretched view on my beloved city.


How?
By a list, of course....


One: Houston is not filled with horrible musicians. Get off of Twitter and Myspace and look at the REAL Houston. Like for example, COME TO HOUSTON AND SEE IT YOURSELF. If you need help, here you go...look up: Airon Dugas, Guitars, Female Demand, Sideshow Tramps (A MUST!!!), and and Sew What (also a MUST!!!).

Two: Downtown is NOT HOUSTON! Downtown - although it can be amazing, with the right people and going to the right places - is complete and utter SHIT. Downtown is where you go for clubs and upscale bars to spend too much money on valet parking and booze, only to have bums annoy you as you go smoke a cigarette.

Three: Houston is not a redneck town. Fuck anyone and everyone who thinks Texas is full of such abominations. Houston is one of the biggest cities in the US, and most Houstonians have never even seen a horse or a cow in real life (although horses have nothing to do with "rednecks", mind you).

Four: Yes, Houstonians are fucking assholes. I admire this aspect. Deal with it.

Five: There is so much life in this city, it is at the point of being overwhelming. The political differences you see no matter where you go; the religious differences; the gender and/or sexual preferences; the....fuck, the whatever! If you see the side of Houston that COUNTS, you will see the side of Houston that keeps Houstonians Houatonians.


I am proud of my city and I want everyone to know that Houston is not EVER what it seems. Houston is the most beautiful city I've ever seen...the fact that one must search for that beauty is part of the beauty itself.
